“When I have a little money, I buy books;
and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes.”
?Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus
Have you finished your holiday shopping? I haven't finished my own, but I've been helping lots of other folks finish theirs. Some of my most popular reader/writer items this year are my mini book ornaments, key chains, and typewriter note cards. The difficulty with shopping is that it's almost impossible to do without making your own wish list for yourself. (Did you know there's a word for that? According to the National Retail Federation, it's called "self-gifting.") Here are a few of my favorite handmade items for writers, readers, and librarians on Etsy from my own personal wish list:
If you don't see the images on this page, you can go directly to the Gifts for Writers, Readers, Librarians treasury list.
If you prefer to buy a book for the book lover in your life, I'd recommend the controversial It's a Book by Lane Smith, a book for grown-ups disguised as a picture book. (Watch the trailer first to see if it's the right book for you.)
Happy shopping!
