Beaded Secret Shirt

Roses are Red Luggage Tag |
| About the Projects: I have two projects in the June issue of Simply Beads. The first is called "Beaded Secret Shirt" and features two designs, one is the blue glass and silver design pictured here; the other features wooden beads. You'll need to read the magazine to figure out why I named the project that! The luggage tag is on the last page of the magazine—the photo in the magazine is absolutely gorgeous (much better than my photo here)! I'll admit, I always flip to the last page first because I really like the quick projects that are featured there. So it was especially fun to see my own project on that back page! |

The bracelet in mid-beading.
You'll need to see the magazine for
the finished piece! |
About the Bracelet: "One Flashy Bracelet" appears on page 86 of the April 2007 issue of Simply Beads. I knew the first time I saw this flash drive that fits around your wrist that it was destined to become a beaded bracelet! The mix of seed beads is a nice combination of blues and purples with the occasional gray/brown—the photo does not do it justice!

One of the Kazuri beads
in "Copper Cowgirl" |
About the Necklace: "Copper Cowgirl" (Spring 2007 issue of Stringing) features Kazuri beads and coiled copper chain. This was one of those projects that turned out nothing like my original idea. I bought the beads thinking I'd make a simple bracelet and then at my local bead store, I fell in love with some copper chain that was completely different from what I thought I was looking for.
About the Earrings: A neighbor's wildflowers inspired the earring color combination. |
Beaded embroidery
| About the Project: This project was just plain fun! The challenge was to "Bead Bead Boy." You always hear about how simple the Google interface is and that's probably true if you aren't trying to bead it! A photos appears in the "Bead Boy" section of the April/May 2007 issue of Beadwork and also on the Beadwork website. |

Leftover antique faux carved wooden beads and brown pony beads
from the "Word to the Wise" project.
| |
About the Project: "Word to the Wise" (p 44-55 in the February 2007 issue of Simply Beads) is small letter holder (finished size is 5 x 3 x 3.5 inches). It can also be used as a napkin caddy in the kitchen. The materials include various shapes of faux wooden beads and brown pony beads, as well as some non-traditional materials like nails, a wooden plaque, hammer, and wood stain. Any large-holed beads will work with this project, although you will need to use lots of extra care if you choose breakable beads of glass or ceramic. I purchased the beads at Hobby Lobby, but similar beads may be found at JoAnn Fabrics and elsewhere.
