About Ears to You
Ears to You gives new earrings to women undergoing cancer treatment in hospitals. Ruth Crane, the organization's founder, explained that she thought of the idea when she was in the hospital and realized how important jewelry and makeup were in feeling "normal." The organization is expanding to include children's hospitals, so Copper Diem encouraged fellow jewelry designers to create earrings especially for teens and tweens.
My Handmade Earrings
Here are the handmade earrings I'm donating:

These earrings include large circle links measuring 1 1/2 inches, pink faceted Czech glass rondelles, tiny pewter daisy spacers, sequins, pink glass hearts, and silver-plated chain. The ear wires are silver-filled. These earrings measure 4 1/2 inches. These may just be the longest earrings I've ever designed! I like the contrast of the pale pink (a sweet, shy color) with the bold style of the earrings. |

For this pair of earrings, I've combined framed dice from the Industrial Chic line by Susan Lenart Kazmer with large pewter rings and silver-filled ear wires. I think the dice look exactly like those in the Yatzee game set. These earrings use quite a few jump rings. More jump rings = more movement when the earrings are worn. |

I've sold quite a few of these simple, reproduction fountain pen earrings in my shop. (Real fountain pen nibs are cool, but they're also much sharper at the tips. These are much safer!)I had one customer tell me that she wore them to her prom, so I feel fairly confident that another teen might like them. |
