I wanted to use the tray at a jewelry show to display some of my
necklaces and bracelets, rather than placing them directly on the table
top.
Before . . .
I found this black printer's tray marked down at Michaels. I think it was around $12, though I'm not positive. It's made by 7gypsies, although there are other brands that make similar ones like Tim Holtz. It's made for mixed media and usually intended to be hung on the wall. Look in the scrapbook department of your local craft shop for options.
The silver pieces looked fabulous against the black, but the dark pieces (such as those that used Vintaj brass chain) seemed to disappear.
After . . .
The solution was quite easy! I found some patterned scrapbooking paper and cut it to fit three of the six slots. I didn't glue the paper; I figured I might want the option of changing the paper later.
I didn't try to fuss and "arrange" the jewelry in the tray; I basically dropped pieces in the various slots. I liked the casual way that the bracelets and necklaces looked. They were framed in the
box, which made them stand out more than if simply displayed on the table, but the casual arrangement meant that customers were not afraid to touch the jewelry.
Hope this inspires a jewelry display idea of your own!
