I've been living in Colorado for more than fifteen years and for some reason I've just now started to feel nostalgic about the state:
I love having a mountain view. I love the blue skies and sunny weather even in the middle of the winter. I'm not a huge fan of snow, although I agree it is pretty the way it hangs off the bare tree branches. It also makes me laugh to see neighborhood kids biking and skateboarding in the snow as if that pesky white stuff isn't going to interfere with their fun.
I like living in a place where people bike to work and crowd into the farmer's market during the summer.
I also enjoy seeing how many Coloradoans travel with a dog in the car. Those fluffy ears and dark noses hanging out the car window make me smile every time.
I find it soothing to see horses and cattle grazing on the side of the road.
All this love has somehow manifested in my work. I've always had a fondness for western style jewelry and home decor, but this year it's starting to rev up. Last night I sketched a over-the-top statement western necklace with turquoise and another fun Colorado key chain design. The handmade items pictured here may just be the beginning!
