"I could feel like a flamingo, but it wouldn't make me one."—Sarah Sequins
Do you have any business trying to make it as a jewelry artist? As a writer? As a _____?
Have you ever asked yourself that question?
If so, you need to read "Don't Give Up," a recent blog post written by Sarah Sequins. It's one of the most thoughtful posts I've read on rejection. In her post, Sarah talks about feeling like a loser for not getting accepted for some big opportunities. It hurt. Her heart is a little broken from the sting of those rejections. She's doubting herself and her talent. But, as she notes, feeling like something does not make it so. Just because you feel like you're a loser, doesn't make you one, any more than feeling like a flamingo makes you a bright pink bird with long, skinny legs.
Flamingo Giveaway!
Remind yourself of this fantastic quote whenever rejection gets you down. I have three of these pink and mint green flamingo resin cameos leftover from a big muse box I bought a few years ago from B'Sue Boutiques. They measure 1 1/8" (width) by 1 1/2" (length). They do not have holes. You could use your flamingo for bead embroidery, turn it into a necklace pendant, glue it on the cover of your journal, or make anything else you like. Leave a comment on this blog post by Friday, February 15, 2013 at midnight (Mountain Time) if you'd like a chance to win one. I'll pick the three random winners on Saturday.

Update, February 16, 2013: Since there were so few entries, I've contacted all those who left an email address and all will receive a cameo. If you would still like one, check out the ones for sale at B'Sue Boutiques.
