P is for Pen
Do you collect anything? If so, was it a collection you started or one that your friends and family started for you?
My pen collection falls into that second category. Once people hear that I write, I invariably get a pen as a gift some point in the future. And while I didn't start this collection, I do add to it occasionally. Sometimes when I least expect it, I'll find a pen that I can't resist. My only criteria is that you can actually hold the pen in your hand to write. (You'd be surprised at how often this criteria isn't met!)
As a collection, my pen collection has a lot to recommend it: it's small and portable. It's not valuable from a monetary viewpoint, so I can leave it out and enjoy it, rather than lock it in a safe. It doesn't require any special shelving or an air/temperature-controlled environment. Plus, it's practical. I actually use my pens to write!
I have pens that light up, play music, and download files (on a hidden USB drive). I have pens with feathers and springs and doll eyes with eyelashes. I have a pink pen that has rose-scented ink and one that has a bubble wand in case I'm in the mood to blow bubbles while I write.
Museum gift shops are a wonderful place to shop for pens! Here are three pens that came from museums:

I'd love to hear about your collections! What do you collect?
