The Bamboo Cutter's Wife The Bamboo Cutter's Wife was inspired by a Japanese folktale about a humble bamboo cutter who finds a tiny girl inside a mysteriously shining stalk of bamboo. From that point on, every time he harvests a stalk of bamboo he finds inside it a tiny nugget of gold. He and his wife raise the girl as their own and she grows into a beautiful woman with princes from many countries vying for her hand in marriage. I imagined this necklace with its humble wooden beads and gorgeous vermeil leaf charms as a perfect gift from the bamboo cutter to his wife, using the fruits of his labor. |
Dandelion Harvest Dandelion Harvest was inspired by Heather Powers' autumnal polymer focal bead as well as the colors and textures of fall. Ceramic, agate and wooden beads are reminiscent of the honey, leaves and bare branches of my favorite season. You can contact Molly at mollyschaller@mac.com. |
